Australia natural environment is widely known spectacular, multi-cultural society, food and wine, friendly people, combined with the weather and lifestyle of Australia’s place among the most popular tourist destinations in the world. It would also make Australia as one of the world’s best place to live and conduct business. Tourism is one of the largest industries with the fastest growth in Australia. The number of travelers to Australia grew from 4.3 million in 1997 to 5.6 million in 2007.
The tourism sector contributes $ 22.6 billion to the Australian economy in 2006-2007. Tourism contributes 12 per cent of Australia’s total export earnings, more than the combined value of exports of iron ore and aluminum in that year. Australia’s unique living environment has a lot of plants, animals and native birds that do not exist elsewhere in the world. Australia is actively committed to preserving its natural heritage protection and has a number of procedures already established. Although the Australian continent so vast, vast majority of its inhabitants living on the coast and big cities. Approximately 75 percent of Australians live in urban areas.
Australia is the driest continent on earth. Its wild forest region has one of the lowest rainfalls in the world and about three-quarters of the mass of land are arid or semi-arid regions. This arid region includes desert in the middle to the west coast. Land in this area is not fertile compared with other deserts that have similar aridity. This presents a challenge in Australia with how best to manage a variety of areas in our continent to meet the competitive demands of agriculture, economics and conservation.
